Artists Statement:
As an artist, my approach involves using heavy paint and thick lines as a way to liberate myself from the constraints of ADHD and the relentless pursuit of perfection I felt growing up in order to fit in. The act of layering my work with lines and dots becomes a meditative process allowing me to embrace the imperfection in both the subjects of my art and myself. I begin with thin layers of paint, gradually building up to thicker textures and bold strokes, freeing myself from the fear of small errors. Through my art, I aim to let go of the lifelong pressures I placed upon myself and create a therapeutic space that celebrates flaws and the unique beauty within them.

What I Create
As an artist, I use a variety of media, including acrylics, stippling ink, and paper collages. Initially, I turned to these mediums as a practical solution to mask my mistakes, but my journey led me to a deeper understanding of their potential. In my quest for perfection, I found myself stepping away from my art, feeling dissatisfied with my creations. However, I’ve since rediscovered the joy in my work by using these same mediums as tools for liberation, allowing me to express myself freely and escape the shackles of perfectionism.
